Clamshell Relay Race and Raffle!

The 24th Annual Peaks Island Clamshell Race was a merry time indeed. If you ran in the relay or bought a raffle ticket, you helped raise more than $3,000 for health-care educational scholarships for Peaks Islanders. Our two scholarship winners, Kelli Schuit and Namdol Kalsang, were our official starters. There were so many contestants that at the Fifth Maine turnaround, we ran out of clamshells to give to our racers.

Many thanks to our Island and off-Island businesses for our raffle prizes, and to the volunteers who monitored the streets, signed up teams, and figured out our race winners. Also thanks to our police/firemen who kept traffic off the curve at the Lions Club.

Catherine Cooper and Zach Andrew were our overall winners in a time of 9:35. Of equal importance were our youngest combined-age entrants: Lucas and Julian Peters at 5 and 2.
Timmi and Rory Sellers won the coveted oldest combined-age race category of 1,046. (That's in black fly years.) Harriet Simon and Sue Lockwood won the greatest age difference. Elizabeth Buckley and Olivia Piacentini were the first girls team. Awesome!
